2005 Moreira Anniversary #1 Brazilian/Spruce
A wonderfully unique Moreira Anniversary Model. For this special guitar Rodrigo selected one of his finest sets of Brazilian and paired it with a lovely Spruce top. 2003 Moreira Santos Brazilian/Spruce
This is a 2003 “Santos” model classical guitar from Brazilian Luthier Rodrigo Moreira. With it’s beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and Spruce top, it is very robust but articulate enough to accurately reproduce even the softest playing. The trebles sing and the basses are full and round. This Moreira guitar also plays easily along the entire fingerboard.

2004 Moreira Hauser Brazilian/Spruce
This classy Rodrigo Moreira Hauser model features lovely Brazilian Rosewood back and sides along with a Spruce top for incredibly authentic, warm tone that is rich in mids. The playability of this guitar is equally incredible. The slender neck is and makes this one easy to play over the entire fingerboard. 2001 Moreira Concert Indian/Alaskan Yellow Cedar
Here we have a very attractive and beautifully maintained 2001 Moreira with Indian Rosewood sides and back and an Alaskan Yellow Cedar top. This is an exquisite guitar with outstanding tone and playability. The Alaskan Yellow Cedar gives the look of spruce, but the warm powerful tone of Cedar. This Brazilian built Moreira guitar is a fine value for an advancing student or professional.

2004 Moreira Concert Brazilian/Red Cedar
Rodrigo Moreira is a Brazilian luthier who makes wonderful guitars featuring premium Brazilian Rosewood that he has access to in his homeland. This Concert guitar has some play wear which makes it a tremendous value for someone seeking superb tone and top notch woods, but who doesn’t mind some character. This one is structurally perfect and plays great . The tone is very alive and vibrant. The trebles sing and the bass supports, just like a great concert guitar should.

Being located in Brazil Rodrigo is able to find incredible sets of Brazilian Rosewood. This guitar boasts a set that has straight, dark grain lines that give it superb tone and an understated beauty. The German Spruce top is French Polished for a warm voice and the modern burl rosetted is refreshing and lovely. The tone is warm and rich on this one with great clarity and a singing G string.

Moreira OM Brazilian/German
Steel string guitars from builders that also build nylons always seem to have a wonderful breath in the tone. That is certainly the case here. Once again Rodrigo has selected an amazing set of Brazilian Rosewood, this time with a symmetrical center section of deep, brick-red, color on the back. But it doesn’t stop there, the bridge, fingerboard and headstock are all Brazilian with beautiful brick hues. Add German Spruce and you get a voice that is at once sparkling and lush.

The voice is dialed in for clarity, precision, and a sweet dynamic range that takes perfectly to fingerstyle, and thanks to Ken’s glassy setup and arm bevel the playing experience is one of effortlessness.

2014 Mountain Song Baritone, Padauk/Adirondack Spruce
Ken Jones of Mountain Song Guitars is an old friend, just like this Baritone. This beauty was originally commissioned in 2014 for our own Paul Heumiller with Ken, and those two embarked on a collaboration that’s kept Paul bari happy for a number of years. Padauk back and sides offer crisp, clear projection and pair with Adirondack Spruce on top for power, power, power. A multiscale setup from 28 1/2” to 27 1/4” adds extra definition and pop to the bass register, and keeps those trebles sugar sweet on the tongue. The neck is carved with an asymmetrical profile that better matches a player’s hand geometry, and the body is further outfitted with twin arm and rib bevels for creature comfort—a wonderful thing on a big boy like this powerhouse Baritone with over 16” across the lower bout. That said, it weighs in at a trim 5lbs, so won’t wear you out anytime soon. Paul later had a James May Ultra Tonic pickup system installed, which sounds, frankly, absurdly good.
Here’s a little more from Paul: “This guitar was a wonderful collaboration between Ken Jones and myself. I selected my favorite specs from the many baritones we’ve sold over the years and incorporated them all into this guitar. Ken really nailed it tonally, ergonomically, and aethestically. Brand New Mountain Song Odalisque, Katalox/German Spruce
Ken Jones brings an eye for detail, an ear for tone, and a touch for modern aesthetics to his builds—our latest Mountain Song Odalisque model is exquisite. Mexican Ebony (Katalox) back and sides with some dramatic figuring are here paired with a creamy German Spruce top in this 000-inspired body for crisp note definition and balance between the registers. The bottom end has a particularly sweet, warm pop to it that really fills out the voice. 12 frets to the body with a 25.4” scale strikes a fine balance between power and intimacy, and we found this Odalisque as happy in Open G or D as in Standard—as Paul would say, this one has a lot of gears for fingerstyle. A slim arm bevel and low profile heel, with the venetian cutaway, make for an effortless player experience, and EVO frets will keep you away from a fret dress for quite some time to come.

Brand New Mountain Song Odalisque, Tasmanian Blackwood/Adirondack Spruce
Ken Jones’ latest brand new Odalisque packs several guitars’ worth of tone into one trim, 12-fret package. Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides, a pale set of Adirondack Spruce on top, twinned arm and rib bevels, oval soundhole–as usual, the works–and they work together so well. It’s always a pleasure to have a Mountain Song guitar in the shop (even if it’s just for an afternoon for photos and recording before sending it on to its happy new owner). We are grateful to continue to offer Ken’s excellent fingerstyle instruments, and for the myriad of repairs he and his team handle for us. These instruments cut no corners, and this Odalisque in particular offers an impressive blend of warmth in the lower mids and clarity in the bass and trebles.
