An exceptional guitar. We just took in a 1974 Ramirez 2A in Brazilian Rosewood and Cedar with some powerful provenance. Played and initialed by the venerable master, Christopher Parkening, this Ramirez has been extensively played in and has an exquisitely opened up and responsive voice. Power and sustain with the 664mm scale; the proprietary Ramirez lacquer finish is in great shape; and this 2A comes with the original case. The generous Ramirez neck profile feels full and comfortable in hand, and the setup is butter smooth. The condition is great. There are the usual marks and fret wear of a guitar that’s been lovingly played for decades, but overall this 1974 Ramirez 2A is a well preserved example.

Ramirez guitars are known throughout the world, and have been revered by generations of guitarists. This particular guitar is the Ramirez 1a Camara or De Camera model, previously owned by Carlos Barbosa Lima. This designation indicates that it has an internal fan which Jose Ramirez designed to eliminate wolf tones in the guitar. It really works and this is one of the finest 1A’s we’ve come across. With solid bass and thick mid-range, the voice of this guitar is authoritative but never brash. It is strong, but always refined. A very fine musical instrument indeed!
From the Ramirez website – We call De Camara an interior fan, also designed by Ramirez, glued in the middle of the sides. It takes away the wolf notes, and it helps the sound to be clear, where the notes are perfectly separated between them.
