2003 Tippin 000-12T Made For Martin Simpson Cuban Mahogany/Bearclaw Euro
This Tippin 000-12T guitar was custom ordered by Award Winning Guitarist Martin Simpson at the time when Dream Guitars Owner Paul Heumiller was working closely with Martin, so we know this guitar intimately. Paul and Martin hand selected the woods in Bill’s shop and Martin chose the appointments and specs. The set of Cuban Mahogany is very rare and old and worth $3000 on it’s own. The top is a beautiful bearclaw European Spruce with great symmetry and very tight grain. There’s also a slotted headstock with Deco T inlay, matching fret markers, a full abalone top border, Fossil Ivory Pins, Martin’s favorite Highlander IP-1 pickup system and a Calton deluxe flight case. This is a rare chance to own a guitar custom built for Martin Simpson and broken in at his amazing fingertips.

This is the very first Prototype of the Tippin Crescendo model which Bill Tippin debuted in 2004. The Crescendo is Bill’s 14 fret 000 designed to offer the full power of a 000 but with the extended fingerboard. Bill used all his very best tonewoods on this guitar including a set of very old and dark Brazilian Rosewood with sultry figure, a master grade Italian Spruce top with a hint of aging toner. Tippin also custom made 5 piece perflings from Curly Maple, Rosewood and fine Abalone. There are matching Abalone inlays at the first fret and at the bottom of the top. The fingerboard is bound in Curly Maple and also has a maple perfling. The headstock sports a Deco T inlay to complete the breathtaking appearance. The tone is nothing short of magical, rich, deep and strong. Our own Al Petteway, who has a signature series Crescendo with Bill, just loved this guitar.

For those who love a rosewood OM (and don’t we all?), here’s a fantastic Tippin. OMs are one of the most versatile models out there, offering balance, power and comfort. The word is out on Bill Tippin and he is now building for top players like our own Al Petteway and Paul Heumiller, as well as Peter Calo of Carly Simon’s group. This one has a dual source B-Band pickup and a Calton Case. This is a great opportunity for the player seeking a traditional OM built to the highest standards at a very fair value.

Bill Tippin is one of our favorites in these parts, and here’s another reason why. His obsessive attention to detail, impeccable craftsmanship, and singular voice is clearly evident in this slope shoulder that was built for award winning guitarist Martin Simpson of England. The Madagascar rosewood back and sides are stunning, and they pair beautifully with an Alpine Spruce top to produce a tone that is both confident and velvety. Dream Guitars owner Paul Heumiller worked with Martin and Bill when this guitar was built and remembers it fondly. “Martin and I met Bill Tippin in the late 1990s and Martin flipped over Bill’s guitars and immediately ordered this DST and a 000.” – Paul Heumiller
