Straight-grained Wenge back and sides pair up with Alpine Moonspruce, their signature 12 fret design plus deep cutaway, and the gorgeous hollowed headstock design. Visually, the rosette is animated with a colorful array of hummingbirds African sunbirds, and Cape King Protea flowers.

2020 Casimi C5C Baritone, African Blackwood/Moonspruce
Luthiers Matthew Rice and Matthias Roux of Casimi Guitars are pushing the envelope with each new build, exemplifying the qualities of modern boutique guitarbuilding that we revere. Here, then, is a new first from them! Their first baritone build, C5C #31, is a finely honed force of nature. African Blackwood back and sides pair with Moonspruce on top and a multiscale setup from 28 inches to 27. Koa trim throughout. We here at Dream Guitars love baritones, the power and presence that comes with these builds always shakes us out of music ruts and inspires new and exciting tunes. 2020 Casimi C2S, African Blackwood/Moonspruce
Matthew and Matthias of Casimi Guitars continue to raise the bar with each build that graces our shop. Look no further than this fabulous 2020 C2S, like new and ready for action! Night-dark African Blackwood back and sides with a creamy Moonspruce top, trademark 12 fret neck and open headstock, and the Casimi Signature appointment package to make these woods pop even more. Geometric designs bookend the raised rosette—which motif continues to the center of the back—and a subtle Ryan-style arm bevel plus soundport add to the creature comforts of this already smooth operator. Koa purflings throughout, and all wrapped up in a custom Hoffee flight case for maximum safety. The voice is characterized by a pianistic response and articulation; big chords ring out in full technicolor glory. The trebles mix a crisp fundamental with a warm overtone effect that’s mesmerizing, and they pair so sweetly with the articulate midrange and expressive bottom end.

2017 Casimi C2S, Pernambuco/Lucky Strike Redwood
Our latest Casimi is a sight to see, and a wonder to hear. This C2S was built in 2017 for a discerning client with dramatic Pernambuco back and sides and a, well, striking set of Lucky Strike Redwood on top. We find that the Pernambuco gives the voice an evenness and definition that would be a touch dry, but when paired with the Lucky Strike top the result is a smoothness and velvety texture that is pretty distinct from most of what we hear coming out of guitars these days.
The sides are inlaid with vines and Mayan glyphs which dovetail with the Mayan-inflected raised rosette (a Casimi hallmark) and endgraft. Red purflings along the Ebony bindings and arm bevel set off the Pernambuco and Redwood, and like all Casimis this C2S features a 12-fret neck join and deep Florentine Cutaway, their unique pinless bridge, and hollow headstock with Gotoh 510 tuners. 2019 Casimi C2S, Koa/Alpine Moonspruce
Pure magic beneath your fingers. This Casimi C2S is a dream machine of modern lutherie, the marriage of a distinct aesthetic with gossamer playability and thunderclap power. Built in 2019, this C2S is nearly new, boasts tightly flamed Hawaiian Koa sides (double sided with a Wenge veneer inside) and a pale Alpine Moonspruce top, and is adorned with Matthias and Matthew’s brass, copper, and Hawaiian black lipped pearl appointments. A work of art as much for the eye as the ear, to say nothing of the hand. 12 frets to the body with a 25.5” scale makes for power, clarity, and added warmth to really fill out the voice; this Casimi has an exquisitely articulate balance from string to string. A fingerstyle guitar in its own category.

This is our latest guitar from Kevin, decked out with Madagascar Rosewood back and sides and Italian Spruce on top plus that über unique arm bevel and a cutaway. When a potent Tunnel 13 Redwood top is paired with Brazilian Rosewood, the result is a lushness and velvety quality that’s immediately draws you in. Excellent balance across the registers, and a smooth, bell-like treble response, make for a top shelf fingerstyle, modern playing experience. Adding to that, Kevin’s design innovations and ergonomic features further establish that contemporaneity with a Ryan-style arm bevel paired with his Bevel Port soundport/back bevel, florentine cutaway, and seven-laminated neck for added stability.

Brand New Caton Carolina, Curly Katalox/Engelmann Spruce
Kevin Caton pulls out the big body stops for this Carolina model in Curly Katalox and Engelmann Spruce. A powerful, clean voice, with some sort of indescribable quality to it that’s captivating and sets it apart from the crowd. Which Kevin’s innovative soundport-arm bevel combo also achieves. Combined with an asymmetrical body and lovely tonewoods, and the result is a modern guitar quite unlike any other. This one excels at fingerstyle play in a range of tunings, and it’s got enough headroom for flatpicking as well. In a nutshell, this Caton Carolina has a full gear box.

We’re big fans of Kevin Caton. He’s pushing the envelope with creature comforts, an expressive voice, and an eye for new and exciting aesthetics. This brand new Sullivan model is outfitted with lovely b back and sides with Italian Spruce on top, plus Kevin’s Bevel Port (combination soundport and rib bevel). A geometric motif is rendered at the headstock, rosette, end graft, and back in blue purfles, and a seven-lamination neck makes for absolute stability.

Kevin Caton’s latest Sullivan comes to us with straight-grain Guatemalan Rosewood and Italian Spruce, Kevin’s unique Bevel Port, and a wide open voice that’s dialed in for maximum resonance. Brand new! And already wide awake. Great sonority in the bass and mids, with a sweet amount of bloom to the trebles that has a subtle, lingering effect. A Ryan-style arm bevel on top, plus venetian cutaway, make for easy playability, and the flawless fit and finish means this one looks as good as it plays, and that’s saying something.

2019 Caton HJ, Honduran Rosewood/Torrefied Adirondack Spruce
Kevin Caton fits a whole case of tone in a six-pack body—the petite HJ is a lively number with 14” lower bout, Honduran Rosewood body, and Torrefied Adirondack Spruce on top. The pre-aged Adi adds power and crunch to the voice, giving the bass response more kick than you’d expect. The build quality is top notch, and featherweight (under three pounds) with great neck-to-body balance for playing on either leg. This beauty comes to us from brand new from 2019, so it’s had a little extra time to open up on top of the Torrefied Adirondack.

Dream Guitars is proud to announce our latest partnership! This time with Kevin Caton of Caton Guitars. And to celebrate the occasion, we commissioned his Sullivan model with a multiscale fretboard, Madagascar Rosewood, Italian Spruce, and Kevin’s innovative “Bevel Port” in the upper bout. And to boot, a Ryan-style arm bevel on top. The rosette and segmented back strip come in a custom design of Ebony, Bloodwood, and Buckeye Burl.
With a 3/4” spread, the multiscale fingerboard allows for added sonority and intonation while maintaining a natural and familiar play feel in the left hand; we found this Caton Sullivan takes to Open G particularly sweetly. Thus, this is a fantastic guitar for the fingerstylist who wants to dip into alternate tuning territory, but which holds up well under a flatpick in Standard as well. New Cervantes Crossover I PE/Spruce Palo Escrito/Spruce
The Cervantes Concert Crossover 1 from Alejandro Cervantes’ Avant-Garde Series is one of our most popular nylon string guitars. Players of all styles from Brazilian to Jazz to Classical are drawn to the unique combination of serious tone and great playability. This one is his Crossover 1 PE, for Palo Escrito, which is the tonewood used here along with a Spruce top for a vibrant, projective voice. This Cervantes features a cutaway, narrower nut, radiused fingerboard and truss rod. The voice is clear, rich and contemporary. It is very well-balanced and articulate.
