2010 Kraut OMC, Brazilian Rosewood/European Spruce
Here we have an incredibly sweet OMC from Ray Kraut. A former apprentice of Ervin Somogyi, which shows in this instrument. Decked out with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, and a European Spruce on top. This guitar has both classic and modern aesthetics balanced perfectly– which translates through the voice as well. Touting a deconstructed rosette that is subtle yet captivating. The look and sound of this instrument speaks for itself. Delicately balanced yet rich with haunting overtones and bloom that leave you wanting more and more. This fine guitar is a fingerstyle players paradise.

$15,600 Add to cartScale Length 25.125 in Nut Width 1.781 in String Spacing 2.281 in Woods Spruce - European, Rosewood - Brazilian 2018 Kraut OM, Pale Moon Ebony/European Spruce
This guitar! Where do we even begin? This 2018 OM from Ray Kraut is astounding to both the eyes and the ears. A beauty, features Ray’s “Pale Moon” Ebony for the back and sides, and a pale set of European Spruce for the top. Not content with that already deadly combination, Ray then fashioned the headstock veneers, fretboard, bridge, and heelcap out of more Pale Moon. An abstract rosette completes the luthier’s portrait. Tonally, this OM pours out notes with such presence and definition, it takes fingerstyle arrangements and renders them in crystalline clarity.
The trebles have a faint blooming effect after the initial attack, and the string-to-string balance is superb. We had a lot of fun playing around in open tunings—the playability is likewise slinky and smooth. Just an incredible instrument across the board, and it comes with a Hoffee flight case to keep it safe and sound.
So much wow factor here, you’ll need to take two breaths.

From the late Mark Lacey, we have a 2010 Premier Archtop—and the model name truly suits the quality of this instrument. Built with the finest materials and craftsmanship, this guitar exemplifies high-end construction while maintaining a character all its own. It has it in spades—well-played and well-built, making it an incredible instrument for both stage and studio.
We love the Joe Barden humbucker in this guitar. That’s a rare combination for an archtop, and it really shouldn’t be—nothing on the sonic spectrum is out of reach with this one.
Listen for yourself.

$11,440 Add to cartScale Length 25.5 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.25 in Woods Spruce - Italian, Maple - Birdseye Brand New Laskin Calm, Ziricote/Sitka Spruce
This exquisite small-body cutaway from Grit Laskin is one half of a themed pair titled Calm and Chaos. This one is Calm.
Ziricote back and sides meet a Sitka spruce top for a tonal response that’s clear and articulate, with the kind of headroom and color that encourages deep listening. Grit’s signature bevels elevate the playing experience—fluid, organic, and incredibly inviting. His abalone-and-mosaic rosette, both structured and luminous, sets the tone visually for what this guitar is about: elegance through restraint.
At the top, a rendering of the Greek goddess Pasithea—goddess of relaxation and meditation—drawn from a rare marble sculpture and interpreted in a stone with similar grain. She was chosen not just for her symbolism, but for her quiet authority. Her presence grounds the theme, just as Pasithea herself was known to bring stillness to the mind.
The fretboard tells a gentle story: a woman seated at the edge of a dock, viewed from behind, watching the water stretch out before her in the last light of day. Three birds in flight arc overhead. There’s a kind of emotional spaciousness in the scene—it’s not trying to say too much. Just enough. Down at the bottom of the fingerboard, a small, perfect arrangement of balanced stones.
Inlaid materials reflect the natural world: deep blue lapis or azurite/malachite for the water, golden mother-of-pearl for the setting sun and cloud edges, with a sky that shifts from warm yellow to soft orange.
This is one of those rare instruments where the visual and the musical are speaking in the same voice. A voice that isn’t loud—but deeply resonant, intentional, and unforgettable.

$25,165 Add to cartScale Length 25.625 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.125 in Woods Spruce - Sitka, Ziricote Brand New Laskin Chaos, African Blackwood/Sitka Spruce
The second half of Grit Laskin’s inspired pair, Calm and Chaos, this large-body cutaway guitar is Chaos—an instrument that trades serenity for spectacle, balance for movement, and invites you into a world where myth, history, and a touch of whimsy all collide.
Built with African Blackwood back and sides and topped with Sitka spruce, this guitar has depth and presence in spades. Its voice is powerful, immediate, and richly dimensional—ideal for players who want their instrument to respond with clarity and authority no matter how complex the music gets. Laskin’s signature bevels, as always, make the guitar feel like an extension of the body, every edge softened and considered.
The story begins at the headstock, where Grit has reproduced a striking 16th-century design by Giovan Capoferri titled Magnum Chaos. It’s a bold and fitting entry point for this piece: the moment before form takes shape.
From there, the neck becomes the pathway of a violent tornado spiraling down the fretboard, electricity crackling from a lightning bolt nearby. Within this maelstrom, Grit lets his imagination roam—objects caught in the swirl range from a twisted tree and a flying pickup truck to two beloved figures from The Wizard of Oz: Miss Gulch (on her bicycle, of course) and the Tin Man. The inlay is masterfully chaotic—elements seem suspended mid-motion, drawing the eye again and again to discover something new.
At the base of the fingerboard, a man and young girl are shown fleeing the twister as it rips through the edge of a house. It’s cinematic, charged, and even a little mischievous—but all handled with Laskin’s usual sense of balance and deep craftsmanship.

$33,595 Add to cartScale Length 25.625 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.125 in Woods Spruce - Sitka, Blackwood - African 2010 Legeyt CL, Tasmanian Blackwood/ European Spruce
From 2010, here we have a LeGeyt CL in Tasmanian Blackwood and European Spruce. This is an earlier model from Burton, and it has been recently re-topped by Burton himself, so we have an example of an opened-up but also renewed guitar, made to meet his current standards.
This newly improved small-body has a lot of unique features — from LeGeyt’s signature bridge design, sound port, and demi-cutaway “scoop,” to being equipped with an L.R. Baggs Lyric for true and transparent amplification.
Guitars like this make you wonder why there aren’t more Tasmanian Blackwood guitars. It’s a tonewood very similar to Koa, yet it has a glassiness all its own. Scoop this one up while you can — pun intended.

$9,360 Add to cartScale Length 25.625 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.313 in Woods Spruce - European, Blackwood - Tasmanian 2020 LHT Rose Burl Fugue, Flame Maple/Sitka Spruce
It’s not easy to make a new name for yourself in the archtop, electric world, but we think Tyler Wells of LHT Guitars has what it takes. This 2020 Rose Burl Fugue is nothing short of a work of functional art. Curvaceous yet comfortable, stands apart from the crowd yet at the same time approachable and familiar. This guitar feels effortless in hand, from the multiscale setup (24.7-25.7”) to the lightweight build and cutaway ergonomics. The neck and body are perfectly balanced to play off your leg when seated, and Tyler’s handsomely executed single bass offset soundhole broadcasts cleanly straight into the player’s ear. Acoustically, the Fugue has impressive presence and range, and would record very well on that level alone. When amplified with a Parallelogram Kent Armstrong humbucker (volume and tone under the Burl pickguard), the tone rolls out fat and round with fingers, and responds beautifully with added crispness and punch under a flatpick attack.
The body is Flame Maple, here paired with a carved Sitka Spruce top and a 4-piece Flame Maple neck with carbon fiber reinforcement. Black ABS bindings, and Bodega Bay driftwood burl appointments throughout give this Fugue its “Burl” designation (with a gorgeous, gorgeous red Nitro burst for the “Rose”).
The LHT Fugue is what successful modern lutherie looks like: pushing the envelope without forgetting its roots, exploring contemporary aesthetics with an eye for ease of play and an ear for dynamics.Other keywords: kent parker, arched top, jazz guitar, fan fret, fanned fret, 3007, ska, flamed maple, duane simpson

From 2002, the “Arched Back Classical” from Jeremy Locke has Tasmanian Blackwood—which isn’t a common tonewood for the back and sides of a classical guitar, but based on what we have here, it probably should be more common. It comes with Gilbert tuners and a Gilbert-styled bridge. As the name suggests, this guitar has a carved “arched” back, giving it the classic Australian guitar tone. With Spanish Cedar for the neck, this is a whole lot of guitar for your money.

A first for us from the bench of James Macdonald, this guitar named “Steal This Book” is one of three in a series crafted by Macdonald, dedicated to counterculture literature. *Steal This Book* by Abbie Hoffman was an exemplification of the 1960s counterculture and quickly sold more than a quarter million copies. The number of books stolen is unknown. This book was quite influential for James Macdonald. In his own words:
“I first came across Abbie Hoffman’s offering in the paperback rack of my local library when I was a seventh grader in the early seventies. I flipped through the pages and saw some sort of instructions on how to make a Molotov Cocktail. As one who spent a lot of time as a kid setting off firecrackers, this looked like fun. I remember giving the library a quick once over and feeling the urge to do as Abbie said—steal the book! My better angels won out that day, and I left it behind. My marquetry tells a different story—*Steal This Book* in the act of being stolen. What a radical name for a book!”
This instrument features astounding marquetry work; the attention to detail here is quite staggering. The headstock veneer references yet another book, the anti-war classic *Johnny Got His Gun* by Dalton Trumbo. The body is Honduran mahogany, with a figured walnut top and a variety of woods making up the marquetry: maple, holly, satinwood, smoked eucalyptus, butternut, and Sitka spruce. Aesthetics aside, this guitar actually sounds incredible, offering classic Les Paul tones. The Sheptone Red Headed Stepchild humbuckers can sing soothingly or scream raucously.
