1995 Paul McGill Concert Classical, Indian Rosewood/Spruce
Paul McGill’s Concert Classical number 160 comes to us from 1995 but has been well preserved and is in excellent condition. Indian Rosewood body with Spruce top, 650mm scale, six hole tieblock with a drop in saddle, and a slim playing weight of 3.5lbs. Additionally, the fingerboard features subtle side dots at the 5th, 7th, and 9th frets for easier lefthand orienteering.

2019 McIlroy A69c Custom, All Koa
Whoever said Koa doesn’t have depth and power hasn’t played this A69c Custom McIlroy. Not only does this all-Koa guitar pack some serious heft into the voice with a quick and lively string energy, but it manages to do so while looking good at the same time. Sycamore bindings plus Abalone rosette, top trim, and position markers are an excellent complement to the figured Koa, and the pinless bridge ties it all together. Additionally, this A69c has the added distinction of being McIlroy’s 1200th guitar–no small feat. If you want lots of power in an easy-playing package, it’s hard to go wrong with this 2019 A69c.

Brand New McNally OM, Honduran Rosewood/Swiss Spruce
All the way from Ireland, this brand new McNally OM with Honduran Rosewood back and sides and Swiss Spruce top has got us all excited here at Dream Guitars. It is truly rare to see the meeting of two worlds in the realm of guitar be executed so well on every level: this guitar has obvious roots in traditional design, but also expands into the explorative nature of modern building. The satin finish feels sweet in hand, and doesn’t look too shabby either. Minimalist appointments allow the natural beauty and qualities of the guitar to speak for themselves. Pure magic.

2022 McPherson MG 4.5XP Ziricote/Adirondack Spruce
2022 McPherson MG 4.5XP in Ziricote and Adirondack Spruce. Classic McPherson design features are present here — offset soundhole, koa binding, elevated fingerboard, and an LR Baggs Element pickup.
There’s a lot of range in this instrument; it sounds dark and cavernous for an offset soundhole guitar. Excellent balance across the registers — not too much of any one thing. Brand New Micheletti Osprey Rigid Rim, Figured Koa/Sinker Redwood
This Osprey Rigid Rim model from Micheletti has a lot going on. Bevels, soundport, killer tone. Some incredibly gorgeous Koa and Sinker Redwood are the main ingredients for this sonic bird of prey. What a bird of prey it is. The rigid rim construction allows for immense and immersive volume. The rounded bevels throughout are beyond comfort and the soundport gives that little extra “me” in the monitor.

2016 MJ Franks Legend OMD, Brazilian Rosewood/Carpathian Spruce
We’ve landed another powerhouse example of the modern OM with M.J. Franks at the wheel. This good-looking example comes to us from 2016 as part of his Legend series, and stands out from other OMs with its deep bodied build. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides plus Carpathian Spruce on top, herringbone trim rendered painstakingly with Abalone, then the cherry on top: a bird and flowers alighting on the headstock, inlaid by Craig Lavin. The voice has sweet depth and range, packing more punch than you’d normally see in a medium guitar like this–and we love that. All wrapped up in a Visesnut case plus case cover!

1987 Monteleone Hot Club, Brazilian Rosewood/Engelmann Spruce
From 1987 we have a John Monteleone Hotclub. This is one of those guitars that teaches you to never judge it by its appearance. This axe appears to do one thing, but in all actuality, it does most of the things, and it does them exceedingly well. As you will no doubt hear in our demo, this is a consummate jazz guitar. However, it really transcends any genre or styling. It’s complete, it’s complex, it’s surprising. Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, Engelmann Spruce on top—and of course, a healthy dose of the alchemy of time. This guitar is just insanely good. Listen and look for yourself. WOW.

Built under tension in the old way with the finest materials you can find: 105-year-old Adirondack Spruce, chocolate-dark Brazilian Rosewood, custom tuners from Willi Henkes of Blazer & Henkes fame. Together, in a 12-fret slope shoulder dreadnought package, makes for immense power. With a short scale setup, that power comes with great balance and warmth. 1 13/16” at the nut offers an extra comfortable and spacious lefthand experience; coupled with the short scale, this Montuoro Style 8 is oh so effortless to play.

We’re so excited to be working with Patrick Morrissey of Morrissey Guitars, and this brand new SJ is just the first of a series of builds we commissioned from Patrick. Chocolate rich Madagascar Rosewood pairs with Swiss Moonspruce on top, plus arm bevel, soundport, and florentine cutaway for all the modern playability. Further, we upgraded this beauty with a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge to make that Swiss Spruce pop. At the rosette you’ll find a geometric motif, and Abalone diamond position markers along the fingerboard.

1984 Mosrite Ventures Model
1984 Mosrite ‘The Ventures’ Model. What a blast from the past this mighty axe is! Often referred to as “the band that launched a thousand bands,” The Ventures’ cultural impact is still felt today, far beyond the guitar-centric surf-rock vibes of the ’60s. While this band was indeed guitar-centric, this was the guitar.
In the mid-1980s, Mosrite production found its way into our neck of the woods—Jonas Ridge and Morganton, NC—just about an hour away from our shop here in Weaverville, NC. The guitar is loaded with Mosrite’s proprietary single-coil pickups, often mistaken for P-90s or humbuckers. These pickups deliver an unmistakable punchy chime and clarity.
This guitar is uncirculated, a one-owner piece straight from the factory. It truly doesn’t get any better than this!

2017 Mountain Song Odalisque, Tiger Myrtle/Moonspruce
To sum up this brand new 2017 Mountain Song Odalisque from Ken Jones in a few words: rich dynamism, ringing clarity, finely honed and opened up. Commissioned by one of our longtime clients, Odalisque #023 has every feature under the sun short of multiple necks or a multiscale fingerboard. No, really: dual bevels for the player’s arm and ribs, upper bout soundport, Tiger Myrtle back and sides, French Polished Moonspruce top, and an impressive display of Larry Robinson’s gifts as an inlay artist in the form of a fresh perspective on the traditional Tree of Life fretboard inlay. First Ken designed the Tree, then Larry executed it in fine style with Tiger Myrtle, gold and white Mother-Of-Pearl, and silver resin at the centers of the blossoms.
Acoustically, this Odalisque offers haunting clarity and the kind of immediate response that’s usually only found on completely opened up vintage instruments. The treble strings possess a bell-like color, and exhibit a delicious bloom after the initial attack which really fleshes out the sustain. Dropped tunings are bread and butter for this Odalisque; the bass fundamental is well-defined and really pops even when dropped down to C tunings. Frankly, it’s just a pleasure to play this guitar! From the Brazilian Rosewood bridge plate to the span of Robinson’s inlays across the fretboard, this Odalisque from Ken Jones is a study of lutherie’s finest points: resonance, response, and beauty.

Strong, clear, very powerful. 28.5″ scale really cranks up the crispness and definition, and Jones pairs up a Cuban Mahogany body with an Italian Spruce top for just the right alchemy of quick, woody fundamental in the bass and juicy trebles, plus hefty sustain. This Mountain Song Baritone pulls new and exciting music out of the player, and thanks to a soundport in the upper bout you can hear that oh so well while you’re in the thick of it. 2019 Mountain Song Odalisque, Tiger Myrtle/German Moonspruce
This is what it’s all about for us: working together with our builders for a guitar that is worthy of a family legacy. Our 2019 Odalisque build with Ken Jones of Mountain Song Repairs (the man behind our repair department) is nothing short of mesmeric. Presentation grade Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle back and sides, master grade German Moonspruce up top, 14 frets to the body and Larry Robinson inlays sprawling across the fingerboard. Ebony bindings exhibit a sinuous Ryan-style arm bevel on the lower bout, and Ken installed a small soundport to the upper bout for added creature comfort.
The tone of this Odalisque is quintessential to Ken’s Mountain Song ideal: smooth, velvety trebles balanced by an expansive midrange and clarity and definition in the bass. Note definition is at an absolute maximum; an ideal instrument for DADGAD or Open G, or even further afield.
