1978 Khomiachkov Concert Indian/Spruce
Built in Leningrad in 1978 this excellent classical guitar is the work of luthier Andrei Khomiachkov. It was originally owned by noted Russian virtuoso Alexander Frauchi; one of two Khomiachkov guitars that he owned. The Khomiachkov is well built, and its point of origin notwithstanding, has a decidedly Spanish tone. The overall volume and projection are superb and it plays extremely well. This is a concert level guitar priced for everyone.

We search long and hard here at Dream Guitars to find the best of every type of guitar for our customers. In BCKingston Guitars we have not only found you the best, but they come at a wonderful price point. This CR-E model is a worldclass 17″ Archtop from Brain Kingston crafted in the highest quality at his shop in beautiful Prince Edward Island. But what our pictures can’t show you is how alive and responsive this guitar is. It’s amazing and it rivals any Archtop at twice the price. This should not be a surprise as Brian has over 30 years of experience building his archtops. We are truly delighted to now represent BCKingston Guitars. From Brian Kingston “The CR-E was designed to have a homogenous look. The maple bindings, part of the 3 piece maple/ebony purfling/binding setup, are cut from the same piece of wood as the sides, matching up the curl where feasible.”

What player hasn’t longed for one of those great old Gibson 335s. Well once you play this Kingston Fusion you’ll never want a Gibson again. The craftsmenship and tone of this guitar are extraordinary. Much more responsive than a factory build semi-hollow guitar and the woods are top notch. We love the rich brown stain on this stunning solid Quilted Maple carved top. The Bigsby Tremolo and custom Fralin Pickups give it versatility and style. The playability and tone are superb, as you would expect from a luthier with over 30 years of experience. This is the real deal, a custom, handmade semi-hollow guitar perfect for blues, jazz and of course Fusion. From Brian Kingston “The Fusion is my take on this venerable guitar. To find more tone I’ve replaced the plywood top, back and sides of the “335” with solid select tone woods. The Fusions mahagony neck, sides, kerfing, centerblock and fully carved back form a homogenous unit that really warms the tone and feeds the sustain. When the bite of the fully carved premium quilted or European curly maple top is coupled with the clarity, articulation and punch of the custom order Lindy Fralin humbuckers and added to the equation; the result is that the Fusion is capable of almost pure acoustic sounds right up thru those big, fat, creamy Duane Allman sounds.”

Stephen Kinnaird’s P-1c is a petite powerhouse if ever we saw one. Modeled after the early Martin 1-18 design, the Kinnaird P-1c weighs in under four pounds with a trim lower bout of 12 7/8” and sides that taper from 3 1/2” at the heel to 4” at the tail. This 2010 beauty comes decked out with select Figured Maple back and sides and an Engelmann Spruce top with dark sunburst, Florentine Cutaway for a touch of the modern. Brazilian Rosewood bindings, head plate, bridge, and rosette! And Stephen’s MOP inlay chops sprawling across the guitar from rosette to tuners.
Short scale at 25”, plus a 12-fret body join, makes for sweetness to mellow the bright Maple projection. We enjoyed putting this one through its paces in Standard and Open G, and while it shines best with a fingerpicker’s touch we found it also held up well for some strumming. The treble strings have a round, smooth quality that ties it all together in a sweet voice.Other keywords: steven kinnaird, parlour guitar, ameritage, englemann

While exploring somewhere deep into the cavernous recesses of the Luthier’s Mercantile lumber supply, Stephen Kinnaird discovered an incredible set of Bubinga that he just had to have. Once he paired it with a delicious Sinker Redwood top, the guitar practically built itself. This 2014 P-1 is brand new, and already the voice is absurd. Use whichever words you prefer–huge, fat, grand, rich, enveloping, sonorous–and they will all come up a bit short to describe the complexity of this instrument. Notes might actually sustain for days. Give it a strum and start counting, and while you wait for those sweet, rich notes to expire, explore the depths of the whorls in the Bubinga back and sides, and the panoply of colors in the Sinker Redwood top. You might find yourself caught between staring and playing. Stephen knows how to build a Parlor guitar, that much is certain.

Stephen Kinnaird is one of our regular builders and we love the voice of his instruments. This FSC-12 model is his Fingerstyle body shape. The 00 body size makes for superb balance and clarity, but we are hear to tell you this little guitar is strong as well. The treble strings are deep and full and the Cuban Mahogany and Red Cedar top offer up both growl and beauty depending on how you attack it. There is a wonderful dark burst on the top back and sides that really shows off the deep curl of the Cuban Mahogany. This is a keeper for some lucky player!

This is our first guitar from Maker Steven Kinnaird of Texas and what a beauty. High Curl Western Big Leaf maple with a nearly black sunburst makes for dramatic hide and seek with the figure of the Maple. The sides and neck are tone to match as well. The top is Engelmann which adds a decided warmth to the responsiveness of the Maple. The voice is very strong, very rich and beautiful. From top to bottom, literally, the adornments are stunning. Starting with the unique shape of the slotted headstock which is guilded in Gold and White Pearl, also bound and bordered. Then comes a solid Pearl nut that Steven Kinnaird said he’s always wanted to try. Then on to the beautifully bound and bordered fingerboard that is dressed again in a lovely mix of Gold and White Pearl. Lastly, the rosette is captivating with shell inset into deep black wood. White perflings on all sides add lovely contrast to the dark burst and bring the canvas to life. But when you are not staring at it you will love playing this guitar. It’s alive, beautiful, easy to hold and to play. It’s at once a gentleman’s guitar and a man’s guitar…

John Kinnaird pulled out all the stops on this beautiful Mini Jumbo (SJ). For starters there is a stunning set of figured Koa, which is become very hard to find. Then there is the sunburst Engelmann top, cutaway, armrest bevel, abalone top border and lovely inlays. The voice however is my favorite part, it’s full and rich with great Koa sparkle. There is abundant bass which plays beautiful against the rich trebles. This is a versatile guitar that will handle many situations and do so with elegant style.

A full tonal palate that leaves one wanting nothing else. Alongside the Steinberger TransTrem System, this instrument is ready to give anything you ask of it. This solid body guitar is constructed of Bubinga, and its heft doesn’t lie solely in its timbre, however, the ergonomic design of Klein’s electric guitars provides this guitar with a sense of stability not often felt in electric guitars. Very much a, “Look Ma! No Hands!” scenario. This guitar is nearly effortless to play. To top it all off, we are selling this guitar for guitarist, composer and fearless improvisor–Henry Kaiser. Which if you’re familiar with his work, the lively pickguard should come as no surprise.
