The 12 Fret Slothead design creates that distinctive 000 sound by putting the bridge in the widest part of the bout where can impart it’s power to the fullest. The slotted headstock increases the decay of the notes slightly, so the notes get out of your way for style such as blues and rags. The ‘3’ indicates the addition of a select abalone rosette, bound fingerboard and double bound peghead, clean fingerboard and gold Waverly tuners. It is custom braced for fingerstyle with slightly lighter bracing making it even more responsive and vibrant. The wide grained Adirondack Red Spruce top has just a bit of bearclaw to give it some interest and tonally it’s loud and clear. The Adirondack top is on it’s way to being fully mature and this one already shows signs of being a killer guitar. Focused, punchy 000 Bass notes below zingin trebles. Special first and foremost because Collings may no longer offer Brazilian Rosewood guitars. That fact alone makes this highly collectible as well as luscious sounding. This set of Brazilian is spectacular, it is very straight grained, very old and has desirable brick red hues. The Varnish finish lets all the tone come through and gives this sunburst OM a beautiful vintage patina that is readily apparent on the bindings which frame the body, neck and headstock.
