This here is an incredibly well thought out guitar: a Martin D-18 Authentic made to their 1937 specs, updated with a 1 3/4″ nut and 2 1/4″ string spacing. It has the best of both worlds – vintage tone and modern feel and playability! The notes seem to just leap out of this one, with all the power and control that you would want and expect from a Mahogany and Adirondack (Red) Spruce guitar built to the same specs as one of Martin’s legendary prewar instruments, hide glue, forward shifted bracing, scalloping and all.

This Martin 00-16DBFM is the very first one made in its series! The label reads Instrument #1 and it is certainly a winner in our books. Built of stunning Flamed Bigleaf Maple and shimmering Sitka Spruce, this guitar has punchy, dry bass and mids combined with twinkling, lush highs. The DBFM was made in support of the Women And Music Program and has a slightly narrower nut of 1 11/16″, great for those with shorter fingers or those who like a closer string spacing on the neck.

Here we have a Martin 0000-18 in Red Spruce and Mahogany. This guitar sings! The wide lower bout really makes this guitar come to life, it has a full and rich voice that is well balanced and warm. This is a guitar that can be fingerpicked or you can pull out a pick and really lay into it and it holds strong and tight. With the classic Martin playability you can sit down to a long evening of playing and never be fatigued.

The Custom Shop at Martin Guitars is making some fine instruments. This Custom Martin Slope D in Madagascar Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce (Madi/Adi) is a superb example. We all just fell for the big and beautiful voice of this sweetheart. This is not your average Martin, it has a really special and unique voice, big bass that’s warm and round and fat, juicy trebles that can handle everything from flatpicking to fingerstyle. The 12 Fret neck and slot head further add to it’s distinctive look and sound. Very cool.
